Launch of IFI @ Triskel Christchurch

Triskel are delighted to announce the opening date for the IFI @ Triskel Christchurch - Sunday May 22nd 2011. The IFI @Triskel Christchurch will host a weekly schedule of independent Arthouse and award winning new releases from Sunday through to Wednesday with up to 40 screenings a month planned for the new Cinema.

The opening attraction is Potiche, directed by Francois Ozon and featuring Gérard Depardieu and Catherine Deneuve. The movie tells the story of a lady who, when her husband is taken hostage by his striking employees, takes the reins of the family business and proves to be a remarkably effective leader. Business and personal complications arrive in the form of her ex-lover, a former union leader.

Other forthcoming attractions include Submarine (2010) UK based and directed by Richard Ayode; Essential Killing (2010) directed by Jerzy Skilimowski and based in Poland/Norway/Ireland/Hungary; Meeks Cutoff (2010) directed by Kelly Reichardt and starring Michelle Williams; Pina (2011) made in Germany and directed by Wim Winders; How I ended this Summer ( Russia 2010) directed by Alexei Popogrebski ; Farewell (2009) based in France and starring Diane Kruger and Willem Dafoe. Restored features include: Apocalypse Now, Battleship Potemkin; Les Diaboliques; Taxi Driver and The Last Picture Show.

As a special offer to celebrate the opening of IFI @Triskel Christchurch we are offering FREE tickets to the First Screening on a first come first served basis. These tickets will be issued from our Box Office on Tobin Street from Tuesday 17th May (from noon onwards). Maximum 2 tickets per person. Details of the full programme including times, cost, parking etc will be available online www.triskelartscentre.ie from Monday May 16th 2011 . GULPD café will act as an ideal venue for movie-goers to gather and discuss the film over light refreshments. The aim of IFI @ Triskel Christchurch is to entertain, inspire and engage its patrons and conjure up lively debates and discussion points from the content of the films it showcases. An ongoing calendar of events will be introduced to Triskel Christchurch such as discussion forums, membership schemes and themed sessions. The cinema at Christchurch is a partnership between Triskel and the Irish Film Institute in Dublin.
