Galway African Film Festival
Friday 20th to Sunday, 22nd May
Fourth annual Galway African Film Festival.
Featuring the 2009 Kenyan sci-fi movie, ‘Pumzi’, about a futuristic Africa, 35 years after World War III; and the 2010 documentary, ‘Benda Bilili!’, which tells the story of a group of Congolese street musicians’ rise to fame. Other films include a historical documentary about Robben Island and ‘Microphone’, a film about underground arts and culture in Alexandria.
As part of a programme of events supported by Irish Aid to mark Africa Day 2011.
Nun’s Island Theatre, Nun’s Island, Galway. Friday, 20th to Sunday, 22nd May. Admission free / €5.
