Filmbase/RTÉ Short Film Awards 2010 - deadline

26 January, 2010

The deadline for the first round of the Filmbase/RTÉ Short Film Awards 2010 is 5pm, Friday 5th of February§

Applications are now being accepted for the Filmbase/RTÉ Short Film Awards 2010
This is a reminder that the deadline for the first round of the Filmbase/RTÉ Short Film Awards 2010 is 5pm, Friday 5th of February. Applications for the award are now being accepted (hard copy only). The guidelines and application form for the award are available from the Filmbase website at www.filmbase.ie/awards

We are delighted that even in these extremely difficult times RTÉ have been able to continue their support for the scheme which, over the years, has given so many Irish filmmakers the opportunity to make short films and embark on a professional career in film and television. However, this year there will only be 4 shorts funded through the scheme, as opposed to the 6 of more recent years - which means the competition has gotten just that little bit tougher!

This first round of the award in 2010 will fund up to two short films with teams receiving €10,000 in cash and a production package (from the Filmbase Equipment Dept.) to realise their projects. This award is aimed at uncovering new talent and encouraging a fresh approach to filmmaking, it also acts as a training ground for directors in the early stages of their careers. Over the last two decades numerous films have been made under the scheme, many of which have screened and won awards at film festivals both nationally and internationally.
