David Freyne's "PASSING" wins award at Kerry Film Festival
Winner of Cork Film Centre sponsored Best Short Film Award
The winner in the Cork Film Centre sponsored Best Short Film category at Kerry Film Festival, is David Freyne, director of PASSING. The award was presented at the Festival Awards Ceremony at Siamsa Tire, Tralee, on Saturday.
Adjudication for the award was by Noel Pearson who said this about the film:
“I thought that the overall standard was very high but unfortunately there can only be one Best Overall Short. I enjoyed The Pool, Mr Foley and Runners. However I thought PASSING was a wonderfully simple story that was beautifully shot and acted and so I consider it to be Kerry Film Festival’s Best Overall Short. I wish David Freyne, the director, the very best of luck. In fact I’d like to wish the very best of luck to all of the directors and, who knows, sooner or later we may work with one or two of them!”
The film centers on an elderly woman, who, on finding her husband dead on their land, sets herself the task of getting his body back to their home. On the journey, Margaret and her deceased husband talk about their lives and times passed.
