CHARLIE CHAPLIN COMEDY FILM FESTIVAL

The village of Waterville, Co. Kerry with the patronage of Josephine Chaplin, along with other patrons, friends, and local businesses, is to hold the first annual Charlie Chaplin Comedy Film Festival in August 2011. Waterville, the Kerry seaside village that Charlie Chaplin loved, is holding the festival to honour the life and work of the master comedian and filmmaker, whose legacy remains both relevant and influential to comedy today.

Waterville's aim is for the Charlie Chaplin Comedy Film Festival to quickly become an international fixture that will bring a smile to Kerry, Ireland and the World. The festival is a four day celebration packed with really creative events, premiers, screenings, parades, talks, work-shops, entertainment, award ceremonies, the arts, lots of parties 1920_s style and much more. The festival includes some truly unique venues and events being provided in partnership with entertainers who are also true Chaplin admirers.

The marque event of the festival is of course the Competition for Filmmakers. Known for their irreverence, integrity, honesty, humour and warmth, as well as their use of social commentary, Charlie Chaplin's are films that have truly stood the test of time. The Charlie Chaplin Comedy Film Festival aims to reflect the courageous and pioneering spirit of Chaplin's work through both screenings of his films and a competition for new and aspiring filmmakers.

We are accepting comedy films under 30 minutes, looking for innovation, experimentation and originality! All entries must be submitted no later than June 1st, 2011.
